Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly closing in on the signing of Lorient midfielder Arthur Avom, a rising star who’s earned comparisons to Yaya Toure for his powerful style and versatility. The 20-year-old Cameroonian international has impressed scouts across Europe with his performances in Ligue 2, prompting interest from multiple Premier League clubs.

Sources suggest Brighton is best positioned to secure Avom’s signature, having tracked him closely throughout the season. The Seagulls are known for their sharp recruitment of young talent, and Avom fits their profile perfectly, capable of playing as a six, eight, or ten, with a strong work ethic and tactical awareness.

Chelsea and West Ham are also reportedly interested, with Chelsea considering a move that could involve loaning Avom to their affiliate club Strasbourg. However, Brighton’s track record with developing midfielders like Moisés Caicedo and Carlos Baleba may give them the edge.

Avom’s current contract with Lorient runs until 2026, with an option for an additional year, but the player is said to be open to a Premier League move this summer. His market value is estimated at around £10 million, making him an affordable yet high-upside investment.
